Returning Home
The Returning Home program is a cooperative effort between Volunteers of America Northwest Ohio, the Corporation for Supportive Housing, and the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections. The population served by this program is persons leaving prison who have been identified as homeless or at risk with a disability such as mental illness, alcohol /chemical dependence, physical disability, and/or have experienced chronic unemployment. Individuals with a severe mental illness must be stable and compliant with their treatment and medication regimen.
Housing is provided in scattered site apartments and supportive services are provided by Volunteers of America Northwest Ohio case managers and supportive service staff who are experienced in serving individuals with a history of incarceration, chemical dependency, and mental illness. Referrals for the Returning Home program are initiated by the Bureau of Community Sanctions.
